Smith Ran in New York City Marathon

On Sunday, November 2, 2014, Steve Smith ran in the New York City Marathon.  Smith was part of a 24-person relay team of basketball celebrities, who are trying to encourage kids to exercise.  NBA Commissioner Adam Silver ran the first three miles and handed off to Chris Mullin, a Brooklyn native, former NBA (and Hall of Fame) player.  Smith, Silver and Mullin were joined by Hall of Famer Tiny Archibald, Knicks greats Charles Oakley, Bernard King and Allan Houston, and the Net’s Darryl Dawkins and Jason Collins.  The 24-person relay team was also comrpised of WNBA stars Swin Cash, Teresa Edwards, Ruth Riley and Katie Smith, in addition to NBA TV analyst Greg Anthony and executives from the league, the Knicks and the Nets, and broadcaster Mike Breen.  Dikembe Mutombo crossed the finish line for the relay team.  Each celebrity was paired with a local student for their one-mile leg of the relay.  A more detailed report of this event can be found at http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_/id/11774703/adam-silver-nba-commissioner-ex-stars-run-new-york-city-marathon-relay.
