Former Michigan State University Spartan and NBA star Steve Smith won lots of kudos on the basketball court, but Saturday he was honored for his charitable work off the court. Smith was presented with the Jack Breslin Lifetime Achievement Award during halftime at the Michigan State-Central Michigan University football game. The award is given each year to a former MSU varsity athlete whose post-college career has brought great honor to him and, by reflection, to MSU and its intercollegiate athletic programs.
